Everstone Studio and NetEase Games rolled out Version 2.2, subtitled "Perilous Eminence," for Where Winds Meet on September 16, closing out the Hidden Mountain storyline that has anchored the game's content since the region launched in July. The update went live across all platforms following scheduled maintenance, and it brings the arc's final story chapters alongside a new competitive mode, two additional world bosses, and a fresh seasonal Battle Pass.
The Hidden Mountain finale unfolds across two chapters, "A Bitter Winter and Sea of Sunfire" and "Reckoning with Qianye," which bring back the villain Qianye the Witch for a last confrontation. Players who clear the campaign unlock a newly explorable location called Skyward City Ruins, framed around uncovering the Grandmaster's mysterious past. Finishing that content grants a chance at the Face Ornament: Steadfast Veil, which is also purchasable directly from the Season Shop for 80 Appearance Tickets for players who'd rather skip the grind.
The bigger structural addition is Transdust Ruins, a new competitive mode set to go live separately on September 23. It requires players to be at least Level 20 and to have completed the "Sands of Perils" quest before queuing in. The mode drops players into a map to collect loot, with the option to fight other players and steal what they've gathered before making it to an extraction point — a format that leans closer to extraction-shooter design than anything Where Winds Meet has tried before, applied to its wuxia combat system. It supports Solo, Trio, AI Solo, and AI Trio queues, giving players a way to jump in without a full group.
Outside the main story, Version 2.2 adds two new world bosses: Golden Colossus Taicu, stationed near the Soughing Knoll Boundary Stone, and Goshawk, found in the Mirkvale mountains. Both drop Medicinal Tales, Inner Way Notes, and Echo Jades, giving endgame players another gearing loop to run alongside existing bosses. The update also folds in seasonal content timed to the Mid-Autumn Festival, including a "Trekking for Treasures" event that sends players hunting for hidden caches through Elder Stork in Mohist City, and "Goose Greeting," a daily login event with cumulative milestone rewards covering Energy and Legendary Gear.
Rounding out the patch is Chilled Current, the game's newest Battle Pass, along with a batch of cosmetics that includes the Bane of Life accessory set, new hairstyles, and additional VFX and companion appearance options. For players who've been following the Hidden Mountain story since its introduction, Version 2.2 functions as a season finale — resolving the Qianye the Witch plotline while planting the Skyward City Ruins as a hook for whatever Everstone Studio builds into its next major content arc.
