Hotta Studio and Perfect World confirmed that NTE: Neverness to Everness's Version 1.4 update, titled "For Whom the Verses Mourn," launches September 30, 2026, following a preview broadcast the studio held on September 16. The update adds two new S-Class Espers, a full new region, and a fresh round of the game's Porsche vehicle collaboration.
The headline additions are Blackbird, a Psyche-type main DPS Esper who fights with Gas Arcs and runs the Witch's House hub where players turn in Oracle Stone collectibles, and Akane Rin, a Lakshana-type Esper who wields a guitar and fights with Liquid Arcs as a member of the in-game band The Whoots. Blackbird's banner, "Foretold Finale," runs from September 30 through October 21, followed by Akane Rin's "Dazzling Star" banner from October 21 through November 11. A rerun of the earlier Lacrimosa banner is available alongside both.
The update's centerpiece is Pukaland, also referred to as Puka Paradise, a new island-sized amusement park region packed with rides, minigames, and a Haunted House attraction, with Anomaly incidents layered into the park's activities. A second new area, St. Arbor, brings a gothic, witch-hunt-themed setting tied to the update's main story arc, "The Witch," in which Blackbird asks Eibon for help with an occult case. A companion spinoff story, "To Us, Back Then," continues into its second phase and digs into Akane Rin's backstory with The Whoots, including a festival-themed redress of Clement Academy.
On the endgame side, Version 1.4 introduces Terminal Depths, a new tower-climb system with checkpoints roughly every 10 floors and difficulty that scales with height, alongside a wave-defense mode with randomized buffs and several new Anomaly Commissions. The studio also confirmed a second season of its Porsche collaboration, adding the 911 Turbo (930) and Taycan Turbo GT as new in-game vehicles alongside a rerun of the previous Spyder model. Quality-of-life changes include a drone follow camera and an animation replay option, both aimed at players who capture in-game footage or photo-mode shots.
The update follows Neverness to Everness's global launch on April 29, 2026, when the open-world action RPG debuted on PC, PS5, Mac, iOS, and Android with cross-platform play, distributed through its own dedicated launcher rather than Steam or the Epic Games Store at the time. Xbox has not been announced as a platform. Version 1.4 is expected to run in two three-week phases through mid-November, with Blackbird's half leading into Akane Rin's later in October.
For returning and new players alike, the update marks the first major content wave since the conclusion of the game's earlier Scarlet Letter story arc, giving Hethereau's roster two new S-Class units and a substantially larger explorable map heading into the fall.
